I dropped my oldest at a birthday party and went through the Timmie's drive-through to get coffee/tea for my friend and I. I am sitting in my truck and I notice black smoke billowing across the sky coming from the direction of my house. I drive to my house and noticed that it's not my house but another house burning, the front completely engulfed in flames and my first thought was, "Thank God, it's not my house." Then of course, my Catholic guilt gets the better of me and I realize what an un-Christian-like thought that was, so gave myself a mental kick in the butt. I also noticed how many people were pulled over on the side of the road, out of their vehicles watching and how many people were making a point of driving to the location of the fire just to see what is happening.
I understand that it's human nature to be curious but standing there and watching someone's house burn to the ground turns the whole event into a freakish sideshow. Here are all these people watching someone else's life literally go up in ashes and smoke and it's being treated like an event to pass a boring afternoon. It kind of made me disgusted
As far as I know, everyone came out alive which is fantastic! Now, knowing this community, everyone will band together to help them out.
Let me know if there is anything Morgan and I can do to help!
