Have I ever told you how much I really love the Beatles. I truly do. Sometimes I wish that I was a teen in the '60's just so that I could appreciate them live. Tell me that wouldn't have been AMAZING! The hysteria, the accents, their boyish good looks and their music. God, their music.
I can't for the life of me understand why some people don't like them? How can you not when they were so peppy and wholesome at the start?
I still haven't picked an absolute favourite song that they have done. I can't. I love them all. I put on the Beatles when I am happy so I can sing and dance around. When I need to clean I put them on so they can energize me and I can sing and dance when I clean cause cleaning is definitely not one of my favourites. I put the Beatles on when I am sad or angry cause they make me happy and make me want to sing and dance. It's the perfect music. Well at least for me.
And the best part about their music... I always turn it up loud and it drowns out the sound of my kids fighting! It can't get much better than that.

Remind me why I like doing this?

Ugh. I completely forgot about all the preparation and planning and packing that goes into camping.
I decided to buy groceries for this weekend and realized that I needed to buy all the staples (ketchup, coffee, etc) in small containers cause apparently none of the stuff made it to this year. All the dishes need to be washed cause they sat in the trailer all winter. All of our bedding needs to be packed. I need to make sure that we have activities for the kids, sunscreen, extra batteries, snacks and god knows what else.
To top it off, I am doing this all on my own cause Rob is teaching a drivers course and they have to do blackout driving and cant start until it gets dark and then tomorrow he is on duty so he gets to sleep over at work. He wants to leave as soon as he gets home on Friday morning. Ugh. Easy for him to say when he doesn't have to do anything other than hook the trailer to the truck and off we go.
I wish I could live in Rob's world. He decides he wants to do something, he goes to work, comes home and everything is done and ready for him. How do I sign up for that?
Well, I should get started cause the sooner I start, the sooner I finish.

May 24

So excited! The May long weekend is coming and the family is going camping! We are trying a new place down near Bancroft and it sounds quite nice. This is going to be the farthest we have ventured to go camping so far. It is also going to be the first time camping with a puppy. She is such a good little thing and adapts well so I cant see there being a problem.
The only thing that I am hoping for is warmer nights. We have a pop-up trailer so we have heat and the mattresses are heated too but I dont want to be freezing sitting around the campfire. Oh well, we will make the best of it. The boys, dh and I all love camping so it should be fun.
The only thing I hate with the whole camping experience is the menu planning. The boys are all picky and I feel quite limited to what I can make over a little propane stove. Hmm, guess its time to search the net for ideas.
So much to do for the weekend and I find that its all last minute stuff like packing clothes and buying groceries. I think this weekend though I am going to start packing the essentials into the trailer like the sleeping bags and blankets and utensils and pots. At least that will give me some sense of accomplishment. I think I need to start a list for all the stuff I need to get and need to pack.
Cant wait, cant wait, cant wait!!

Where this is smoke, there is fire

I dropped my oldest at a birthday party and went through the Timmie's drive-through to get coffee/tea for my friend and I. I am sitting in my truck and I notice black smoke billowing across the sky coming from the direction of my house. I drive to my house and noticed that it's not my house but another house burning, the front completely engulfed in flames and my first thought was, "Thank God, it's not my house." Then of course, my Catholic guilt gets the better of me and I realize what an un-Christian-like thought that was, so gave myself a mental kick in the butt. I also noticed how many people were pulled over on the side of the road, out of their vehicles watching and how many people were making a point of driving to the location of the fire just to see what is happening.
I understand that it's human nature to be curious but standing there and watching someone's house burn to the ground turns the whole event into a freakish sideshow. Here are all these people watching someone else's life literally go up in ashes and smoke and it's being treated like an event to pass a boring afternoon. It kind of made me disgusted
As far as I know, everyone came out alive which is fantastic! Now, knowing this community, everyone will band together to help them out.

Spring is in the air...

Friday started off with major anxiety and apprehension cause I had to go to the Dentist, just a cleaning but I am always terrified! The people that work at my Dentist's office are amazing and humour me. This was my first time at their new office and OMG!! they have chairs that give you a massage while they are doing stuff in your mouth! AMAZING!! Almost makes the whole trip worthwhile... almost.
Had a great weekend cause my brother and sis-in-law and nephew came up! We always have a ton of fun with them. Their dog and my dog met for the first time and played. It was a riot! We couldn't stop laughing at them and our bellies hurt so much. My bro and SIL used to live in Timmins which is about 7 hours from here but they moved back to my home town so now they are only 3 hours away which is so much better but I still wish they lived closer.
Today I decided to get some spring cleaning started cause it's in the air... you can feel it and smell it and I am so glad. D and I washed windows while listening to the Beatles cranked! Then when I was about to pull out the vacuum someone decided it was the time to watch Kung Fu Panda again. I am just waiting for it to be over to get the vacuuming done. Tomorrow I think I will be washing walls and baseboards. I have to get hubby to fix my clothesline so I can wash curtains and bedding and get it on the line. Nothing is better than bedding hung on the line in spring. I can't wait!!
The only thing I don't like about the spring is the mud and dirt. Now that we have a dog, I hate it so much more. The puppy comes in all covered and we have to wipe her down before we let her in. Remind me again why we got a dog? LOL. She is sweet so I guess I will get over it.
Well, back to the spring cleaning and the laundry.

Wooshie Finger Hold

We have just started watching Kung Fu Panda for time number one today. I used to love this movie but we are averaging about 5 times a day. Ugh. I really dont know how many more times I can watch it. I think it needs a break. After watching it so many times I am wishing that the Wooshie (spelling might not be right, sorry) Finger Hold would be the most awesome power that a mom could have. Think about it, you lightly grab your child's finger and they automatically start dancing around, knowing what is coming. Oh, the power.
Sometimes I wonder what attracts a kid to a certain movie. We have tons and he consistently picks this one. Oh to see inside the two year old's brain. Really, I have no idea why he does anything that he does but most of it makes me laugh. Both of my kids do. They are so much more entertaining than tv or a movie.
Being as this is my first kick at the cat, so to speak, I think I have done okay. Now I must hie myself away to the monotonous chores of a stay at home mom.
